On 10 May 2021, the residents of Beaulieu Country Estate were asked to complete a survey regarding the way forward with respect to the Informal settlements on plots 99 and 100.
The survey results showed the majority of residents were both in favor of Beaulieu Country Estate taking legal action against the Gauteng Province and the City of Johannesburg (76%), and the construction of a wall (86%) along that boundary.
As a result, our attorneys have started proceedings and issued a Notice of Motion to those unlawfully involved in erecting structures, occupying, and trading on holdings 99 and 100.
We are also investigating the construction of a wall, taking into consideration the size and type needed owing to the specifications required on a wetland.
